The Diocese of Paterson includes the three counties of Passaic, Morris, and Sussex in northern New Jersey, under the leadership of Bishop Arthur Joseph Serratelli .

The diocese is blessed with urban, suburban, and rural parishes.  Our parishes, schools, agencies, hospitals, and ministries help to serve the 425,000 Catholics who live in the diocese.

  BISHOP SERRATELLI'S WEEKLY COLUMN
Thanksgiving And God’s Providence For All
For all of us who are humbled by God’s favor and strengthened by fellowship with others, Thanksgiving Day is the moment to recommit ourselves to work even harder that the gifts given to us be set for all to enjoy at the banquet of life. Thanksgiving is less about our productivity and more about God’s providence for all. During the Thanksgiving Holiday, as we gather with family and friends to thank God for his goodness, I ask God’s blessing on all of the faithful of this diocese and their loved ones. In his loving kindness, may the Father confirm your faith and draw you closer to himself through His Son. By the grace of the Holy Spirit, may your hearts overflow with praise and thanksgiving every day.

Attitude Of Gratitude
Thanksgiving Day is meant for us to take time from the hectic pace of modern day living and reflect on all of the blessings that have been poured out from Almighty God upon us and our families — faith, freedom, health and life itself. Too often we get caught up in the day-to-day routine of activities and fail to reflect with gratitude on all our blessings.  How great would it be if we could carry that attitude of gratitude around with us the other 364 days of the year? And how different could our lives be?

OAK RIDGE Robert plays the piano. Karen loves dogs. Richie and Randy are big New York Yankees fans. Anthony is a Knight of Columbus. Mindy enjoys using the computer. These hobbies and favorite activities of some of the residents at group homes operated by diocesan Catholic Charities Department for
Persons with Disabilities (DPD), are no different than those enjoyed on a daily basis by anyone else.

The 9:30 a.m. Mass at St. Bonaventure’s is known as the Children’s Liturgy of the Word, which is part of St. Bonaventure’s religious formation program.

THE 32ND ANNUAL BEACON CHRISTMAS SHARING FUND
Talking about Christmas today on Thanksgiving Day, might give some pause that it’s a little early for that discussion. To me, it’s never too early to celebrate the Christmas spirit.

Bishop: Fight ‘culture of death’ by speaking and living out Respect for Life principles
PARSIPPANY Bishop Serratelli issued a challenge to Catholics during the annual diocesan Mass for the Unborn Nov. 22 in St. Ann Church here: help right a society turned topsy-turvy — flipped upside down, in part, because of its ever-stronger embrace of the “culture of death” — not only by speaking out against such horrors as abortion and assisted suicide, but also by reaching out to the most vulnerable, including unwed mothers, the infirm and the elderly.

OLMC selling Christmas ornaments of the church’s renowned stained-glass windows
BOONTON Daylight streams through the colors of the stained-glass window of the Nativity in Our Lady of Mount Carmel (OLMC) Church here and onto the joyous scene of Baby Jesus’ birth. The Virgin Mary smiles. The Christ Child holds up his hands. A young shepherd smiles, as he looks at the baby, while an old shepherd wears a serious expression, understanding the importance of this moment in history.
