SPIRITUAL

  • identify a theme for an annual spiritual goal
  • implement the Diocesan Religion Curriculum Guidelines and the National Doctrinal Guidelines for High Schools
  • coordinate workshops, conferences, in-services, days of reflection for religious/spiritual formation of the staff
  • coordinate catechist certification/validation program
  • disseminate information and provide consultation on new programs, approaches, and trends in religious education
  • coordinate meetings for the Elementary Religion Coordinators and High School Religion Department Chairpersons
  • coordinate the Bishop's liturgies with the high schools
  • oversee the implementation of the strategic action plan for creating a vocation culture in the schools

ADMINISTRATIVE

  • facilitate system-wide mission focused planning
  • coordinate workshops, seminars, conferences on leadership skills, strategies, and management techniques
  • maintain and monitor an updated Professional Record on each principal
  • conduct semi-annual Principals' Convocations
  • consult and assist in search and selection of new principals
  • provide orientation for new pastors, principals, teachers and secretaries
  • collaborate with and support the Elementary Principals' Association and Secondary School Administrators
  • supervise and evaluate administrators: review school goals, conduct annual visitations, prepare summative reports, implement the Principals' Appraisal Process
  • interface with superintendents/assistant superintendents of other arch/dioceses in New Jersey
  • interface with professional, public and civic groups and organizations
  • coordinate standardized testing program for elementary and secondary schools
  • coordinate high school entrance exams
  • maintain an online database of prospective teachers, administrators and support staff
  • post available teaching and administrative openings on the Schools' Office web site
  • prepare and maintain a statistical database on the schools in the diocese
  • monitor school enrollments on a quarterly basis
  • provide consultation and guidance on all legal matters involving personnel disputes and due process issues
  • provide support, consultation and direction during all crisis intervention matters
  • provide technical assistance workshops as needed on a variety of topics
  • sponsor programs relating to child safety issues
  • respond to DYFS referrals
  • review all discipline referrals resulting in student suspensions and expulsions
  • monitor the transfers of students without a change of address
  • set, implement, and review the Catholic Schools' Office goals periodically
  • establish Education Councils where they do not exist and support those that do exist
  • collaborate with the Diocesan Education Council in the formation of diocesan policies, procedures and practices for the schools
  • collaborate with a variety of consultative bodies related to school issues
  • review and update all existing diocesan manuals, handbooks and guidelines
  • monitor the implementation of an emergency operations plan in each school
  • monitor the hiring practices for employment, specifically the completion of the employment eligibility form and the filing for a criminal history check
  • coordinate Faculty Advisory Council (FAC)
  • coordinate Student Advisory Council (SAC)
  • identify and monitor schools under study
  • assist schools in the implementation of the PowerSchool computerized student information system

INSTRUCTIONAL

  • coordinate workshops, conferences, speakers on curriculum development, trends, instructional styles and techniques
  • provide consultation on initiation of new programs, organization for learning, restructuring schools and technological advancements in education
  • implement, review and update the diocesan technology plan and Diocesan Technology Guidelines
  • monitor and facilitate the development and updating of technology plans at the local level
  • coordinate the Middle States Association self-study process; provide consultation/support services during the self-study process; design and conduct training sessions
  • provide consultation on early childhood programs
  • disseminate curriculum and technology information
  • coordinate the review and development of curriculum
  • convene all consultative groups for input related to instruction and technology
  • chair high school roundtables
  • monitor and facilitate the implementation of diocesan curriculum guidelines
  • coordinate the implementation of the professional development required for state certification with all of its components

FINANCIAL

  • facilitate financial management workshops
  • analyze school budgets for reasonableness
  • monitor school financial operations
  • provide resources and consultation to pastors and principals with regards to fiscal management
  • work with school leadership to oversee the school finances
  • chair the Diocesan Schools Subsidy Committee
  • chair the Diocesan Lay Teachers' Salary Committee
  • provide the Diocesan Education Council with timely financial reports
  • assist in the preparation of the annual high school audits
  • review the high school maintenance subsidy requests
  • implement the financial objectives of the Elementary School Master Plan and Presbyteral Council Recommendations for High Schools

MARKETING

  • disseminate information about marketing programs and activities
  • provide public relations services for diocesan schools
  • provide consultation on all marketing issues with individual schools
  • coordinate Diocesan Home and School Federation, annual convocation, activities and programs
  • coordinate Simon Scholarship, McKenna Endowment Fund, the Catholic Schools Administrators and Teachers' Education Fund and the Elementary Educators' Professional Development Endowment
  • coordinate workshops, seminars, conferences, speakers on marketing issues
  • seek and research grants, foundations and donors for services, programs, equipment
  • interface with members of the New Jersey Catholic School Marketing Council; prepare and implement goals and objectives of the Council
  • provide resources and information to parents through the New Jersey Network of Catholic School Families
  • collaborate with the Diocesan Communications Office
  • implement the development objectives of the Elementary School Master Plan and Presbyteral Council Recommendations for High Schools
