The feast day observes the Assumption of Mary into heaven and it is a Holy Day of Obligation.
Our Lady of Victories was established to serve the needs of the French-speaking immigrants who settled here to work in the silk mills. Newark Bishop Thomas Joseph Walsh assigned Father Christian A. Pfister as pastor in 1933.
